Sunflower at Bartram Garden

Some ideas gathered from the interwebz on what crops to plant for a fall harvest in Zone 6b-ish:

Peas – July 7 – August 15
Kale – July 7 – September 1
Broccoli – July 15 – August 15
Spinach – July 21 – August 21
Beets – July 21 – August 21
Carrots – July 21 – August 21
Leaf Lettuce – August 7 – September 15
Radishes – August 15 – September 15
Mustard Greens – August 15 – September 15
Garlic (bulbs) – August 21 – October 21
Shallots (bulbs) – August 21 – October 21

This list was originally posted on Skippy’s Vegetable Garden blog.

My own crop will consist of:

  • Jewel-Toned Beets – Red Sangria, Golden Beets, Striped Chioggia
  • Pea – Shelling Green Arrow
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Sugar Snap Pumpkin
  • Yellow Squash
  • Duganski Garlic
  • Susanville Garlic

I’ve ordered a cover crop to overwinter on the beds – Crimson Clover – from Territorial Seeds in order to create some green manure for the beds.
